College is awesome... even though the only people here are the athletes, and I haven't met my roommates or suitemates (or any other people really) yet, and I haven't moved into my real room, and classes haven't started, and I haven't really partied. It doesn't matter though - the team is awesome! Yeah, so it's wicked fun. I really don't have anything else to say because, unlike most people, I haven't been to any really big parties yet (due to the soccer aspect). I don't care, it's fun anyway, and I like soccer so I really don't have anything to complain about. It's really flat out here. Um, I'm not really an interesting person I guess. I move into my real room in a week and then I can finally unpack... and my stuff from home will be shipped out then, too! Somehow or other we didn't pack any real clothes in my suitcases so all I've worn are soccer clothes, which is totally fine. I love looking gross! Muhaha. I'm going to go play a crazy game of Pictionary now - oh yeah, you know how we do at the U of C. Oh, I almost forgot! I went downtown yesterday and it was exciting.

I'm in Chicago. I'm nowhere near the ocean or the mountains. I left my phone in Massachusetts. I have no means of communication to the outside world.

This is my last update in Massachusetts. I don't know whether to feel happy or sad? I will miss everyone... well, a lot of people anyway. I'll be home in December, if not sooner!

Yesterday was one of the strangest days I have ever had in my life. Strange in a good way, though! It started at the hospital, then went to the beach (where a lot of strange things happened), then to the... er... ahem, then to the movies with random people (where I got a random Garfield doll). Yup, strange.

I got my roommates and dorm assignment for next year. I am in Max Palevsky West, which means I have my own bathroom! Yay! My roommate is Ying from Berkeley, CA and my suitemates are Ariane (IL) and Gwendolyn (MI). Clearly I have the most boring name ever. I tried calling Ying, but she wasn't home. I don't want to call again because her family might think I'm a strange, stalker-ish type of kid.

And now, the biggest news of the week: Paul Scholes retired from England and Patrick Vieira is going to be sold to Real Madrid! This, I know, means nothing to anyone but me... but trust me, it's big news.

Yesterday I saw Manchester United play AC Milan at Giants Stadium, and it was awesome. I hope they come back again next year! Even though they lost, it was still an exciting game (10 shootout kickers, how could it not be?!) and they should have won. I just wish I could have seen VAN THE MAN, and Cristiano Ronaldo, and Gabriel Heinze. That's okay, though. I saw Ryan! And Roy! And the fans sang the Ryan Giggs song! I wish Jocelyn was there to hear it. I sang along. I am definitely going to try to study abroad in England so I can watch games all the time. It's nice watching them on TV, when they're actually on the TV, but watching them live is amazing. I also got to see Cafu, and Nesta, and Maldini -- and they're crazy defenders. I tried to learn something by watching how the played. Then, after the game, we stopped at some rest area in New Jersey, and the place was swarmed with soccer fans. It was wonderful. I felt like I was in England again! Our seats for the game were ridiculous, they were right behind the net they used for the shootout. We were so close that I could see Tim Howard's dimples. It was awesome! I thouroughly enjoyed watching Giggs and Cafu battling on the left side, and it was good to see Alan Smith and all the other new players. Ryan and Roy looked so tan! Roy was amazing, he controlled the whole field. If there was any player I wish I could play like, it would probably be him. He really is the team. Yay!

I'm leaving in 20 days! I'm so nervous. Anyway, I'm having a going-away party this Saturday (as in August 7) at 1:00 at my house, and everyone's invited. Seriously, just go, because my mom is probably going to make a ton of food and I would feel bad if no one showed up. Just go for a little while even. It might suck, but then again, we might have a pool by then and you can swim.

I just realized this: since Cristiano Ronaldo and Gabriel Heinze are playing in the Olympics for Portugal and Argentina, I won't get to see either of them when Manchester United goes to New Jersey next Saturday. I'm wicked disappointed because Ronaldo is fun to watch and I'm very curious about the new guy. Boo!

I would like to go to Denmark because there is a Super Nintendo there and I can play Super Mario Brothers! How awesome is that? I fricken love that game, it totally kicks ass. It's the one with the Star Land (levels: Gnarly, Cool, Tubular, Outrageous, etc.) and the different colored Yoshis. Yoshi's sneakers are awesome. They're brown, and whenever he lands on something with his sneakers, one of two sounds is made: either a "poof" or a "clap". I also love when he eats those giant cacti things, one segment at a time. Overall, Yoshi is my favorite character. I get so sad when Mario gets hit, then Yoshi runs away and either falls down a ditch or drowns. Whenever I play Mario Kart, I'm Yoshi. I also love the level in the forest place where you can get a star and kill all the bad guys, while getting an excess of 25 extra lives in the process. However, I'm not a big fan of Vanilla Dome. Cocoa Island, or whatever it's called, is okay, though. One of my biggest pet peeves is not getting all the Yoshi coins in a level -- I can't finish it until I get them all. I wish I could beat every single level, and get every single Yoshi coin and other coin like my brother used to be able to. Remember how Bowser would float in a giant, smiley-faced clown of a hot air balloon in the last castle? Remember how hard it was to actually get through Bowser's castle before seeing the giant clown balloon?

Super Nintendo was so cool, Xbox and Playstation are nowhere near as awesome. I miss those days.

First things first. England lost to Portugal 6-5 in penalties in the quarterfinals. I felt like crying. It was awful. Also, now Chelsea are going to buy Steven Gerrard and that will just be no good. I bet they'll buy Wayne Rooney, too. And Michael Owen. Just because they have billions of dollars to spend. France lost to Greece 1-0 and that's just crazy, and Holland beat Sweden (yay!). Now I want Holland to win because England is out of the tournament.

Next: Regionals are this week! I'm excited. I hope we make the semis, that would be wicked cool, but we have a somewhat hard group. Plus, my whole team got injured yesterday in Maryland, which sucks. I'm supposed to be buying new cleats right now, but I'm so sick of the car that I don't feel like driving to Milford to get them. And, since I plan on buying the new David Beckham cleats, I need time to calm down after his disappointing tournament.

It's almost the Fourth of July. I like the Fourth of July, yay. I'm definitely craving waffles and I am going to see if we have any.

I'm leaving for New Jersey in a few hours. I should be back Sunday night at the latest... haha, wait, no one cares. The last time we went to New Jersey the whole tournament got cancelled and we didn't even play one game. Then, on the way home, our car broke down in southern Connecticut and we had to wait an hour for the tow truck and three hours at the garage for Brian to come pick us up... then we had to drive three more hours to get back home, and a few days later my father and brother had to drive back to the garage to get the car. Plus, on the way home, we got lost in New York City because my dad took the wrong tunnel - and I had to navigate him out using a huge Wal*Mart road atlas.

I didn't do my workout yesterday and now I feel guilty. Also, my coach enclosed a list of dribbling moves I should be doing and it just doesn't make sense to me. I feel as though this is going to be a long season. I'm muy nervous. I really hope I can actually play with that team. I'm also nervous about classes, because apparently, they're insane. I hate classes and all schoolwork.

Well basically that's it, except for - oh yeah - England won! They beat Switzerland 3-0. Then, France played Croatia and tied. I mean really, the one time I want the French to win and they don't. They definitely should have, they were such favorites. Oh well... England will just have to tie or beat Croatia on Monday (hopefully beat, as a lot can happen with just a tie).

That's 69, for those of us that didn't feel like counting. A good number to stop on, Tessa. By the way: I'll get the cleats later, and yes - you spelled potpourri right. I had Mrs. Belseth too. Euro 2004 starts tomorrow and I'm sooooo excited! England's first game is Sunday against France. It should be good... and tough... and, oh yeah, David's playing! I haven't seen him play in a bajillion years. I have red hair.
